Nursery Admissions Policy
The admissions limit for the Nursery will be 50 morning places and 50 afternoon places
Children will be admitted into Nursery in the term after their third birthday, subject to availability of places.
If the Nursery is oversubscribed the following criteria, in order, will be used to allocate places:
‘Children in public care’ for whom Discovery Primary School Nursery is the most appropriate local Nursery.
Pupils with a statutory statement of special need which names Discovery Primary School & Nursery as the most appropriate provision to meet the child’s needs.
Children with a ‘serious medical condition’ with supportive information from the child’s hospital consultant which details the reasons why Discovery Primary School & Nursery is the most suitable setting for the child.
A child who has a sibling living at the same address and who will still be attending Discovery Primary School & Nursery at the time of entry.
Proximity to the school – measured in a straight line from the home address to the main entrance of the school.
Parents may register their child from birth.
Applications can be made at any time in the school year and parents will be notified of offers of places at the earliest opportunity.
Parents may express a preference for a morning or afternoon place – in the event of an over-subscription for either morning or afternoon places the criteria above will apply.
If parents are unsuccessful in obtaining a Nursery place they can be put on the waiting list informed as and when a place is available.
Parents must register their child separately for Nursery and School – securing a place at Nursery does not secure a place in school.
Application for Reception at Discovery
The admission limit for Reception at Discovery is 90 - 30 in each class. Children will be admitted into Reception in the term after their fourth birthday. Places are allocated by a strict process controlled by the Royal Borough of Greenwich Admissions section. Applications are completed online. Information can be obtained by following this link.
