Reading in Reception

Reading at home from the early stages of Reception and near the beginning of a child's Phonics journey is really important. It is essential that when a child reads a Phonics book at home that they use the same skills they use within the classroom to enable them to progress rapidly in their skills.

Please take time to watch our model video to show how a Phonics book would be read by a child. The child uses their Phonics knowledge to say the sound that matches with each letter/s in a word before squashing the sounds together to make a word.
