Pupil Leadership

At Discovery, we wholeheartedly believe in the power of pupil voice and promote ways in which children can develop essential leadership qualities.  As a school, we are committed to developing a pupil lead culture where children work alongside staff, to shape the teaching and learning that happens at our school.  We are striving to mould leaders of the future, who will be ready for the world of work and prepared to make a positive contribution to the community around them.  At Discovery, we seek to craft confident and articulate pupil leaders who can share their ideas as well as listen to the ideas of those around them.
The aims of the Pupil Leadership Team are:
·        To be excellent role models for pupils across the school
·        To make positive contributions to teaching and learning at our school
·        To ensure that children’s voices and opinions are heard
·        To work alongside school leaders, teachers and governors to promote the best outcomes for children
·        To challenge, discuss and debate issues which are important to them
·        To monitor aspects of the school, including: the curriculum, the behaviour and well-being of pupils and the school environment.

Are you worried about something?

image

Meeting new friends, learning to swim, competing in sports, family problems at home - all these and many more are things that we all worry about.  It is completely natural to feel a mix of emotions about things, and worry can be helpful as long as it doesn't last too long, become too intense or happen too often.

Talking about your problems is always the best way to start making them better.  Often, by talking to your parents, carers or another adult about the things that are bothering you can help you to see things differently and will make you feel that you do not have to deal with it on your own.

How can the Discovery family help you?

At school, you can speak with your class teacher, or any other adult, who will always be able to make time to listen to you.

If you are not sure what to say, try writing it down and giving the message to an adult you trust to read and come to speak to you about it after.

Always remember…
We are in this together and that you are never alone.
